School Council
At Roade Primary School, we value our pupils’ views and opinions. The School Council is a key factor in ensuring that pupils are able to contribute and share their thoughts. The council consists of fourteen children, two from each class in Years R to 6. The members are elected by their class mates to represent them. The councillors elect a Chair and Secretary who help to draw up agendas, run meetings and take minutes. Meetings are held once every fortnight. Prior to a meeting all classes discuss the issues on the forthcoming agenda. Their representatives can then feed the views into the council meeting. The School Council is instrumental in suggesting improvements for the environment and in resources for the children. As a council body, we have successfully achieved the replenishment of the library and put in place another basket ball net so that matches could be played during Hotshots sessions.
The School Council have successfully created a quiet area. Where the children can sit and relax with their friends away from the main playground. Class teachers also benefit from the use of this area as there is enough seating to practise drama activities. |
