Roade Primary School

We are a mixed rural primary school for children in the 4-11 age range. It has been provided, and will be maintained as a County School, by the Northamptonshire Education Authority.

The school has achieved the  Northamptonshire Active Young Citizens Award, Quality Mark,

Healthy School Status and Active Mark.

The school consists of a Victorian block with 2 classrooms and a main block built in 1971 and extended in 1996. The school has a large playground with a shaded area, activity trail and school field. The school grounds also contain a wildlife area with pond and a quiet garden for use at playtimes.

This is the original school bell which hung in a special tower above the old school when it was built in 1876.

It was rung by pulling a rope inside the Headmaster’s classroom before lessons started in the morning and afternoon.

The last time it was rung was shortly after the Second World War. The custom of ringing school bells then died out and it was taken down for safety reasons.

The bell now hangs in the reception area and is rung during our achievement assembly on a Friday by one of the children to welcome the arrival of a new family member.
