It is our aim that your child will make the best possible progress at this school and be happy doing it. The teachers plan to provide a secure, friendly environment where the children’s learning is paramount. We seek the co-operation of parents in providing the best possible foundations for each child’s school career. The school does operate an open door policy where parents can discuss problems and concerns with class teachers before and after school.

Parents are formally invited into school three times a year to discuss their child’s progress, well-being and attitude to school life. The school has a home school agreement which parents and pupils are invited to sign.

The school welcomes the active support of parents to complement the work of the staff. At present several parents assist the school with swimming, games, taking groups in class, hearing readers etc.

Homework

Homework is set regularly each week by the class teacher.  Arrangements regarding the days for setting homework is usually Thursday and handed in the following Tuesday, this varies per year group.

Numeracy and Literacy targets are given out termly and are reviewed on a regular basis. We also have a whole school approach to Literacy targets; this term’s focus is to develop sentence structure.

All children are expected to read daily, preferably with an adult, and this should be recorded in their reading record book.

Spellings and mental arithmetic tasks are given out regularly.  Older children may be asked to complete a curriculum related project.
